Visiting Assistant Professor of Drama – Vassar College
2023–2025 | Poughkeepsie, NY

As Visiting Assistant Professor of Drama at Vassar College, I taught a range of physical theatre and movement-based courses including Alexander Technique, Clown, Physical Comedy, Dramatic Acrobatics, and Advanced Acting. My teaching emphasized embodied performance, play, curiosity, and physical storytelling. In addition to classroom teaching, I worked closely with students as a movement and acting coach for productions, offering support in acting, voice, Alexander Technique, directing, intimacy choreography, and stage combat. I also mentored students in independent projects and supported their growth as devisers, performers, and collaborators.

While at Vassar, I launched the Theatre for Climate Justice Project with support from a grant from the Consortium on Forced Migration, Displacement, and Education. This initiative uses applied theatre and physical storytelling to explore the impacts of climate change on vulnerable communities. As part of the first phase of the project, I brought a student researcher to Egypt, where we collaborated with local artists and toured a devised performance in displaced communities across Cairo.

I also coordinated a series of guest artist residencies and workshops, expanding students’ exposure to global practices in physical performance. Guests included – UpLift Physical Theatre – a company I co-founded that creates ensemble-based, acrobatic physical theatre, Abdul Ghani – Pakistani choreographer and contemporary dancer, Joan Howard – social clown, educator, and builder of State of Play in Oakland. These visits offered students hands-on engagement with a variety of performance practices, from devised acrobatic storytelling to Pakistani dance to clown for community connection. My time at Vassar was a rich exchange of ideas, artistry, and inquiry—deepening my commitment to teaching performance as a practice of presence, connection, and transformation.
