Enmity of the People: UpLift Physical Theatre

UpLift Physical Theatre Residency – University of Dayton, Ohio, USA
January–February 2017

UpLift Physical Theatre was invited as artists-in-residence at the University of Dayton, where I served as a teacher, performer, and director/deviser.

During the residency, we facilitated the creation of an original acrobatic theatre production titled Enmity of the People—an adaptation inspired by Henrik Ibsen’s and Arthur Miller’s Enemy of the People. The piece explored themes of truth-telling, environmental justice, corruption, and community responsibility. Developed in collaboration with undergraduate students, the show combined physical storytelling, acrobatics, and ensemble work to confront urgent social questions through embodied performance.

In addition to the production process, I taught in theatre and movement classes and performed in our company’s original touring piece, Through the Waves. This residency was a dynamic exchange of physical theatre practice, co-creation, and community-centered performance.
