Clowns Without Borders: Colombia
Clown Encuentro – Cali, Colombia
June 2019
I traveled to Cali, Colombia with Clowns Without Borders USA to participate in Clown Encuentro—an international clown conference dedicated to laughter, resilience, and global collaboration.
During the conference, I led a multi-day workshop on creating clown performance for the street, focusing on physical comedy, ensemble storytelling, and interactive play. The workshop culminated in a performance for children experiencing housing insecurity—bringing connection, imagination, and joy to the streets of Cali.
In partnership with the incredible artists of Cali Clown, we also created a collaborative show and spent four days touring marginalized communities in and around the city. We performed for families facing housing instability, internally displaced Colombians affected by armed conflict, and Venezuelan refugees seeking safety and belonging in Colombia.
These moments of shared laughter amidst adversity were powerful reminders of the healing force of clowning—and the universal language of joy.

Clowns Without Borders (CWB – USA) offers joy and laughter to relieve the suffering of all persons, especially children, who live in areas of crisis including refugee camps, conflict zones and territories in situations of emergency.
